Many archaeologists have confirmed that Dragon’s Eye Rock is not an archaeological site, but rather a natural geological phenomenon. Nature has formed these rock structures within the mountains over time, which has helped attract tourism to the area and has also given the mountains a stunning and remarkable appearance.

It is called “Dragon’s Eye Rock” because it is located inside a rocky cavity at the top of a mountain, and due to its large, circular shape. The hollow reflects the reddish color characteristic of the surrounding rocks, making it resemble the eye of a dragon.

The local sheikhs in the surrounding area named it “Dragon’s Eye” due to its striking appearance, which gives the impression of an eye watching over the place.

Dragon’s Eye Rock is considered one of the natural formations in the mountains of South Sinai. Towering mountains and wide valleys surround it from all directions, creating a breathtaking natural landscape that attracts explorers and adventure lovers alike.

Dragon’s Eye Rock was formed as a result of several erosion processes, both atmospheric and water-related. These processes led to chemical reactions involving iron within the granite, which contributed to the formation of the structure known as the Dragon’s Eye.
